چکیده
The objective of this study is to assess the capability convolution-based neural networks predict wall quantities in a turbulent open channel flow. first tests are performed by training fully-convolutional network (FCN) 2D velocity-fluctuation fields at inner-scaled wall-normal location $y^{+}_{\rm target}$, using sampled velocity fluctuations wall-parallel planes located farther from wall, input}$. predictions FCN compared against proposed R-Net architecture. Numerical design and optimization of hydraulic resistance and wall shear stress inside pressure-driven microfluidic networks.
Microfluidic networks represent the milestone of microfluidic devices. Recent advancements in microfluidic technologies mandate complex designs where both hydraulic resistance and pressure drop across the microfluidic network are minimized, while wall shear stress is precisely mapped throughout the network. In this work, a combination of theoretical and modeling techniques is used to construct ...
متن کاملMechanical aspects of blood-wall interaction : wall shear stress measurement
The predilection of atherosclerotic lesions for specific sites in the arterial tree is believed to be related t o the wall shear stress, exerted by the blood flow. Measurement of the magnitude of the wall shear stress is difficult and is frequently determined by an extrapolation of the velocity field t o find the wall shear rate and an estimation of the viscosity of the fluid in the neighborhoo...
متن کاملEffects of dynamic shear and transmural pressure on wall shear stress sensitivity in collecting lymphatic vessels.
Given the known mechanosensitivity of the lymphatic vasculature, we sought to investigate the effects of dynamic wall shear stress (WSS) on collecting lymphatic vessels while controlling for transmural pressure. Using a previously developed ex vivo lymphatic perfusion system (ELPS) capable of independently controlling both transaxial pressure gradient and average transmural pressure on an isola...
متن کاملHemodynamics of cerebral aneurysm initiation: the role of wall shear stress and spatial wall shear stress gradient.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Cerebral aneurysms are preferentially located at arterial curvatures and bifurcations that are exposed to major hemodynamic forces, increasingly implicated in the life cycle of aneurysms. By observing the natural history of aneurysm formation from its preaneurysm state, we aimed to examine the hemodynamic microenvironment related to aneurysm initiation at certain arterial...
متن کاملAccuracy of MRI wall shear stress estimation
Methods Three methods for WSS estimation were studied. These methods are based on 1) linear extrapolation (LE) of MRI velocity data, 2) MRI velocity data in combination with estimation of location of vessel wall, and 3) Fourier velocity encoding (FVE). Numerical velocity fields representing axisymmetric 2D velocity profiles were generated for WSS values ranging from 1-20 N/m. Based on the numer...
